Wow. I don't think you'll find too many places where people are spending an average of £40-£50 on drinks in one night! That's ten pints per person! Everyone would be falling over. At the Electric Ballroom I spent about a fiver, and the people I met in the queue didn't even buy drinks as Prince started playing practically the moment we walked in.

Which either means you had one bottle of beer, or 2 bottles of water!

Sorry, but £40-£50 on drinks in London is easily done.

I'm not disputing that it's easily done, but it's not going to be an average spend. Yes, I'd have spent £40 or £50 if I'd had 10 pints of beer, but there is no way I'm going to do that, and I don't think that many people will, especially not a Prince crowd. I want to hear the music, not pass out in a corner.

What do you think the chances are of him playing a show on any given night during the week? Thinking of heading into London on Tuesday/Wednesday with the hope of seeing him.

Even if there were an average spend of £15, 2 shows the other night with full capacity is around £30k on the bar in the space of 4 or 5 hours minimum, its not to be sniffed at. The venues will be doing better out of these shows than prince will be.

Dunno. I'm heading down on the megabus from up north sometime in the next week. £8 down, £8 back the next day. I'm staying at a mates house overnight. If he doesn't play somewhere, well it's a night out in London at the very least!

Maybe 50/50 (He either will or he wont)

On a serious note though, i have thought the same, spending two days down there, but its too tough to call, could be he doesnt do anything for 2 days or spends 2 days in the Studio here with no gigs, big chance to take I guess

Took the day off today, 'still waiting'.

Good to see some familiar names from 2007. Partyman, I think I remember you, and a few others. Didn't he play 'Partyman' at the Indigo aftershow on 21 Sep 07?? I came to the pub meet up before the last show and got some glowsticks from someone I think I still owe money to!

Got a ticket for last aftershow at Indigo as someone sold me his for face value. He went in, then couldn't be bothered to wait so he left! Money changed hands right in front of the bouncers but they still let me in!!

I am older, with more commitments, but still feel like a teenager when I'm checking the Org for updates (which has been all day today and most of the last two days).

Hope something happens. I'm in N London and ready to go!! Good luck everyone and thanks for the updates!

That was one heck of an Aftershow. *sigh*

I really hope I can get to see him again during this UK visit, I am so excited to hear 3rdEyeGirl rock out!

I am kinda "ready to go" too... I have cleared the next few days off from work, I just need them to announce something that gives me time to get to London with a fighting chance of getting in to a show. :/

Someone I know, whom claims to be 'rumour circle', whom challenged my announcement of a Madame Tussauds gig tonight (HA! 're. Friday btw) claimed he was doing The Garage in Islington (No offence, but hardly 'iconic') last night... please somebody confirm or dispell this as they kinda came off a tad condescending!

By the way, those who have me on YouTwitFace (if you smell what The DreZone is Cooking?), whether I went on wednesday or not is no longer apropos and I don't know when the next show is!!

Honoured as I am, I am in the same boat as most (please refrain from 3121 references, lol).

Based on the events of this week, it seems the beginning of the week is always full of baggage!

Hiya,I've not been here for a while, probably was the 2007 tour, under a different name (I forget what it was now). I'm kind of gutted that I can't travel up to London but this weather, and the fact that most trains in Cornwall are grounded, put stop to that.

I was just looking at where he might go next and did a bit of digging. I've noticed Koko has a space tomorrow - we know he's liked his secret gigs there in the past. Also Ronnie Scott's has no 'late showing' scheduled for the 16th but does on all the other dates, seems it's likely he might go there seeing as he's said he'd like to. I bet he'll lay low today in this weather (not sure how it is in London) then come out of hiding later tonight/tomorrow.

I've been a fan since my teens and so far only seen him live 3 times - still have the bug to see him more. That set list fr the second show looks awesome; quite refreshing to see him doing more raw guitar and edgy stuff.

Ya know folks this thread is turning into Moanville Central.

I think people who are interested in advance rumours and/or accurate tip-offs about the location of the gigs and constructive comments about the gig content itself, would really appreciate all the moaning being posted in the SERIOUSLY UNHAPPY & ANGRY!!! thread, so we don't need to trawl through protracted bun fights to get to key information.

Cheers,

Okay, I've been checking twitter every few hours for any news on anything, any gig announcements, or dates or anything... To be met with Princes manager tweeting bits of bolloxology about herself, retweeting sycophantic crap that people have sent her... Kiran you're an amazing lady...aw thanks...retweet...Kiran how lovely you smell...retweet... And this morning, I thought..
Okay, it's Saturday... It's been days without any news. If it's a real tour and not a PR stunt for the new album she will have some nugget of information on a real gig, not a stupid retweet...
No. Kiran spent her professional time rebranding herself. We now have a truly amazing ethereal pic of her (barely recognisable after all the photoshop) floating through time eternal, like a Mayte Garcia clone.
I actually did a puke. Right in my mouth.

Well said Barbara! I find it almost funny, that these Californians are so removed from London, euro mind sets. The amount of negativity that I'm starting to see all through these boards certainly reinforces my own feelings on this later endeavor.

In America you might fare better, in London your sure to be toast.
How psychic of you Prince.

He can still fix things, if he waits much longer though it's gonna be another P fiasco. The media outlets were all ready to announce his tour dates for him, he even made TV news. But he blew it! A day late and no announcement.

That doesn't go down well in parts! The whole Ronnie Scott's thing, was a PR disaster, that must hurt P a lot. That really is an iconic venue, and they have blasted him for wasting their time and have decided their patrons are more important than his self promotion BS. If he could see through Kirans mystic haze and dodgy porn photoshop work, then he might learn a lesson here...

Yes, I'd have spent £40 or £50 if I'd had 10 pints of beer, but there is no way I'm going to do that, and I don't think that many people will, especially not a Prince crowd. I want to hear the music, not pass out in a corner.

While it is very easy to spend £40-£50 on a night out in Lodon, MatthewBest is probably more correct about the shows on Wednesday. The bars were both extremely quiet for the first show at least. I'm past the point of needing to be close enough to smell Prince's feet, so I prefer to hang out nearer the back and enjoy the show in relative comfort.

The bars were hardly used, my wife and I spent a grand total of £0 between us. From what I saw I'd be surprised if the average spend was much more than £10 per person, especially considering the very short opportunity to buy drinks before Prince came on stage and that the bars closed before the last encore. I'm sure some people spent loads but the average for that first show was definitely going to be towards the low end.

RIP sad

Well that's even worse then. She complained about the weather? And got someone to photoshop her twitter pic? Doesn't understand how to deal with UK venues? media?
That's even more vommy. At least if she was a real Californian she could have used the cultural differences line.

I just want some Prince gigs, as promised, not being made to read the self appreciating, self loving, moronic rants of some vain hanger on. Is that what it takes these days?

Take a chill pill guys! You'll ruin it for yourselves!

The "tour" has been a great success so far. Absolutely loads of positive press, loads of buzz on social media, loads of people excited about Prince.

I realise some of the hardcore here would rather they get personal notice of every gig, NPG reserved seats, tiny shows, obscure favourite setlists, their pick of band members etc. I'm not sure that would serve anyone's best interests. The aftershow hunt can get a bit febrile and stressful if you don't keep your sense of humour.

We've been hugely lucky in London in recent years to have seen as much of Prince as we have. As many O2 shows and after shows as you possibly wished, that amazing Hop Farm show. Even this Electric Ballroom show would have been totally doable if you'd have been keen enough.

Let's hope that he does indeed stay long enough, and play big enough venues for those of us who have got jobs to go to and other responsibilities to snag tickets. I reckon there's a good chance we'll see something before he leaves.

But if not, enjoy the circus while it lasts. It's been hugely effective so far at doing what they've set out to do. Let's hope it builds from here into something as memorable as recent visits.

Errrr..I think the personal notice is a bit OTT, as for London being hugely lucky in recent years, and memorable recent visits I must have missed those smile 2007 isn't really recent.

I think all 95% of prince fans want is a day or two's notice, and maybe the 'luxury' of advance ticket sales smile The EB shows was not do-able for the majority of folks, great for hype, that worked, now they need to build on it with a proper tour.
